I am in the middle of a pig butchering scam right now! Because of this scammer, now I’ve learned the ins and outs of this new trick from researching a lot about it. I haven’t lost anything, caught it early. First I want to thank the creation of this forum and the amazing people here who help out continuously. I also want to thank joeygibson and goodboybane, who helped me with spotting this scam in another post. I think all the contributions here have saved me and many others!
This scammer is still talking to me, he doesn’t know that I know yet, he’s still in high hope that I’ll fall for it. Now I’m wondering what can I do to catch him or trick him back? I can just block him anytime now, but I really want to do something about it, so there won’t be the next victim(at least from this guy), and maybe he already scammed many people before! He is literally in an active crime right now! I wonder if there’s any authority I can report to given that there’s no money lost. I just think this would be the best opportunity to catch a criminal, while they’re doing the crime, instead of all the time waiting to catch them after the fact, after someone got hurt. Any recommendations?
Should I at least post his FB and IG profiles to warn others? Here’s an idea too. A lot of people share their experience here and the links of those fake sites, but most don’t include links of the scammer’s profiles. What if there’s a thread dedicated to posting all the confirmed scammers’ profiles so people can just look it up there when being approached? I think that would be very helpful and prevent the same scammer from getting to many people. I know they change their profiles all the time, but for those who are actively committing crime using a current profile, it would be nice for everyone to be aware of it, like the one I’m dealing with now. Any thoughts?
