Has anyone heard of this scam? My grandma’s 75-year-old friend has an online boyfriend she found on Zoosk. He’s calling himself Richard Cole.
Here’s the sitch: He claims he’s stuck in Vancouver on a business trip because one of his employees got injured there and the ambulance that picked him up hit an endangered tree. The Canadian gov is apparently holding his passport until he can pay $50,000.
Unclear if it’s for tree damages or the ambulance cost. But the woman is about to remortgage her house tomorrow to get the money. She has a brain aneurysm and wants to do this before she goes into surgery. So she’s rushing.
It’s just an overall sad situation and my family would like to find a way to prove to her that she shouldn’t send this man money she doesn’t have.
