My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/scambait/comments/uhti26/i_have_a_very_good_dating_app_scammer_on_the_hook/
So while slowly moving though the scam. I sent faked screenshots of a crypto.com deposit and notice of a 7 day hold on it. I convinced them that I’m very wealthy and a little naive. He set up a date with me for Saturday at the most expensive restaurant in town. I called to verify the reservation and indeed there is one. So I’m guessing they’re moving to more of a long-con and getting someone local to take over. I’m not entirely sure who will show up, the guy in the Tinder photos definitely isn’t who I’m talking to; a PimEye search on the photos brings up a bunch of hits from Russia.
I’m going to assume he’ll “get sick” right before and cancel then use that to drag out the online interactions but if someone does show up, I’ll have an actual person to turn over to police. Now I’m wondering which police I turn to (local or Federal) and what I should do next. I’m going to bring a cancelled Amex card with me and use it to attempt to pay my half then feign astonishment when it doesn’t clear the get him to pay for the whole thing promising him I’ll pay back on the next date etc. after seeming to fall further for the scam.
To be clear I absolutely know this is a scam organization. The screenshots I sent all get hits from India and vpns in Asia and he gave incorrect answers to various questions I asked about his supposed home town (that I happen to know a lot about). And also I’m not worried about my personal safety. I am not someone to be messed with.
